There’s export activity everywhere, from small niche exporters to large commodity exporters, and the thing they have in common is a need to access relevant information.
Intertradedocs and CVEN sponsored a new kind of event for exporters in the Ballarat region of Victoria during July of 2014. Experts from many fields were there to discuss and advise guests–customs brokers, logistics managers, financial managers, federal and state government officials, insurance brokers, export and industry associations, and many more. Exporters came out from every corner of the export industry as well, including confectionery, agribusiness, water, wine, niche clothing, and more.
We ran the event as an open forum, with exporters asking our export panel questions. The discussions were wide-ranging and covered a lot of detail. After the open forum, there was a free networking session for exporters to approach individual panellists, for people to make business-to-business contacts, and for everyone to give feedback to the organisers about what they’d like to see happen at future events.
Feedback was very positive, with most attendees saying that they would definitely attend future events. Panellists were pleasantly surprised at the success of the event. We hope that more organisers will take up this format, because it really does deliver.
If you’d like to have an event like this in your area, we’d be very happy to hear from you!
