The Packing Declaration is required for all containerised shipments, whether LCL (less than container load) or FCL (full container load). No Packing Declaration is required for non-containerised shipments.
The questions for the Packing Declaration are answered on the same screen as you enter Packing List information, since the two go together.
Packing Declaration questions relate to the use of controlled materials such as wooden or bamboo packaging, whether used as packaging, pallets or dunnage.
Choose the correct response to each of the questions shown. If you choose Yes, other supplementary questions will appear as required.
The packing declaration screen for LCL shipments
When you are sending a shipment LCL, this part of the screen also contains space for adding the Marks and Numbers for the goods as packed - these include addresses and any other identifying marks on cartons, crates or pallet-loads.
You should also enter the Container Number and Seal Number for the shipment as soon as you have them.
The packing declaration screen for FCL shipments
An extra question for the Container Cleanliness statement is added if the shipment is FCL.
For FCL shipments, the one set of questions covers all containers in the shipment. A Packing Declaration will be generated for each container, but the answers on all documents will be the same, from your choices on this screen.
If you are sending the shipment FCL, the Marks and Numbers field is not available; the Container Number and Seal Number fields are moved to the Packing List Lines at the bottom of the screen, as you will see in the next section.
The packing declaration screen for non-containerised shipments
For Air, Courier and Local shipments, no Packing Declaration is required.
